The brief wondrous life of Oscar Wao

Junot Diaz is one of the most innovative voices of the Latino life in the United States. With this novel he won the Pulitzer award but his two short stories collections 'Drown' and 'This is how you lose her' are also unique examples of his writing.

This book tells the story of Oscar, an overweight nerd who always falls desperately in love with out-of-his-league women and dreams of becoming the next Tolkien. On the other hand, her punk sister Lola is trying to run away and their mother Beli fights with tragic memories from her past life in Rep. Dominicana.

A magic prose will lead you through the different generations of this family, struggling to find their place in a hostile world, dragging their own selves in a new land, aliens in their homeland, at lost in the world.
